Voice and language are everything!

Keep in mind that all of your gestures and facial expressions are omitted during a phone call. What you have left in addition to the transmitted data and facts is your voice and language. Speak clearly and preferably a little more slowly to avoid misunderstandings. The smallest but most important trick: Smile! The person you are talking to does not see you, but you can "hear" the smile - you immediately create a positive atmosphere.

Stand by yourself and your worth!

The headhunter calls you for a reason - you have already been recommended or discovered on the Internet, you have valuable skills that match an open position. Do this in more detail and add what you think is particularly important. Ask questions to find out if the position might fit your needs. You know your résumé and your values best - no reason for uncertainty.

Things not to forget

Especially if you have an unexpected phone call, you can quickly lose track of things. Take notes (if possible) so that you can remember the conversation better later.
You should always clarify important facts such as the place of work, the number of hours and the work environment or area of activity. You usually only find out which company it is at a second appointment.

Of course, everyone's favorite question shouldn't be left out - the question of salary.
Don't worry, recruiters don't want to negotiate salary with you. But a rough overview is important in order to save time should the ideas not go together. So take a relaxed approach to the question: How much do you earn at the moment? What is your market value and what do you want for the future?

It's all in the mix!

Try to find the right mix between listening and speaking proactively. If you barely talk, it signals insecurity and discomfort. If you do not let your interlocutor have the chance to speak, he or she has no chance to ask for the crucial details.
With the right mix, your phone call will be a success and the headhunter will be happy to contact you again!
