Conflicts - Problem or Opportunity?

Conflicts - problem or opportunity?

Conflicts come in very different forms. They can play out as remorse in a person, as a dispute burden a partnership or take up a lot of time and energy in everyday work between colleagues. In order to avoid this, however, one should not hide from differences of opinion, but use the situation for an improvement.

Conflicts can be resolved or nipped in the bud in no time with simple steps:

Early detection

The earlier conflicts are addressed and all those involved are informed and involved, the earlier a conflict can be resolved or even avoided. There are a number of reasons for disagreements, but mostly it fails because of communication and misunderstandings arise. Continuous contact, such as regular discussions with colleagues and questioning a situation, can thus prevent conflicts.

Don't go out of your way

Different values and views shape the personality, fortunately, especially in the work environment, different personalities come together. This can often lead to conflict. Silence and ignoring problems is not the answer. The harmony in the team can be very strained by unspoken differences of opinion. Starting with small taunts and provocations among colleagues, to refusing to provide information or even providing the wrong information - all of this can trigger an unspoken conflict. This not only has a negative impact on the work environment, but also on the performance of all team members.

Control your own behavior

As a person involved in a conflict, many things cannot be influenced. However, your own behavior and approach can be adapted to find the best solution to the conflict. First reflect on their behavior before judging others and looking to those around you to blame. An objective approach can contribute positively to de-escalation. New solutions can be created through compromises. In a conflict, everyone involved is involved and therefore also “guilty”. In order to restore harmony and find solutions for everyone, it is important to put yourself in the shoes of your counterpart.

Chances of a successful conflict resolution

Conflicts are not just the reaction to disagreements; they indicate problems. The participants are obliged to deal with the situation and the resulting emotions. This not only promotes personal development, but also accelerates the development of solutions and changes are created. Optimized processes, open attitudes or new team members can create new opportunities for the entire team and thus also for the company itself. If the conflict is successfully resolved, the work can be successfully continued and time and energy are focused again on the performance in the team.

An open and appreciative conflict culture within a company should be communicated to all employees. Conflicts can thus be resolved or even prevented using the steps described.
