Canceled - What now?

New orientation and opportunities can be found in 5 steps

The personal manners between manager and employee have changed massively due to the general economic situation, the increasing constraints and the pressure to perform.

The tapping in tone, inter-company intrigue or even bullying is perceived as almost normal, or, to keep their own job as not so badly dimmed, although this is now a serious crime and is also prosecuted and punished.

teamFORCE job change

This respect and recklessness, as we know from numerous American films or TV series, has not stopped at Europe and is present on almost all hierarchical levels. This also applies to the final personnel management instrument used, the termination. Like useless "lumber", without any respect or esteem, managers and employees are "disposed of" as quickly as possible in a convenient way.

Any separation processes implemented by HR management are of little use if the managers do not even know what harmful physical and psychological effects an employer termination actually has and how to pursue both internal and external damage limitation in negotiations and in separation talks.

An unexpected termination triggers the affected person almost always a shock trauma. We feel free, because the livelihood is suddenly threatened. Instinctively we respond to a danger with flight, fight or dead spots. But since we can not easily escape or fight in business, we go into a kind of shock. Depending on the general state of health, high blood pressure, burn-out, heart attack, dizziness, sweating, or even a stroke can be the direct or indirect result. Add to this the emotional component: feelings of revenge, anger, being treated unfairly and feeling like a victim. Those who do not notice these symptoms and counter immediately, is sidelined. Depression, existential anxiety, panic attacks and fear of failure set in motion a downward spiral that blocks a clear assessment and location.

The termination as a great opportunity

After a termination, the physical and mental re-integration takes some time. Get away from your old job and your ex-colleagues and supervisors and do not mourn the past! Only then can you rebuild your self-confidence and recognize new opportunities.

"Back to Career Road in 5 Steps" is an offer that has helped me and others regain balance and new career perspectives within a few months.

The five steps are

1. Take a short break - but a maximum of one month!

Change your usual environment! Take a vacation alone or in the circle of your loved ones and break out of the usual routine. Do sports and dedicate yourself to your hobbies. Avoid contact with your ex-colleagues or superiors. Before you take the time out, however, you should first regulate everything important such as legal matters, employment office, finances, insurance and official certificate.

2. Structure the daily routine!

Plan your day in advance! Ideally in the week before or at least on the evening before the next day. Only a fixed and planned structure gives you support and security and gets you out of bed in the morning. It should be a mixture of purely private or career-relevant activities and appointments.

3. Carry out a personal assessment!

Identify your professional dreams! What experiences, strengths do you have? If you have already acted relatively self-sufficient in the employment relationship and have virtually led a company in the company, it can certainly make sense to think about self-employment! Carry out a personal assessment with your strengths, weaknesses and resources and revise your CV including all related documents, such as motivation discs, certificates, references, photo, etc.

4. Let us help you!

You need people whom you can completely trust, who understand you. In any case, this includes your friends, possibly a lawyer or doctor and an external personal coach. This ideally supports you already during the period of notice, eg through an employer-financed outplacement program during the orientation phase and during the next career steps.

5. Think positive and start through!

Stay optimistic and confident - no matter what. Discover what you like and stop doing what you do not like anymore. Self-management is necessary and happens through self-reflection and awareness. Very soon you will have parted from what was goodbye and from then on you just look forward. That's the best of all, when the enthusiasm and joy of the future opportunities and opportunities awakens again.

When one door closes in front of us, another opens.
