Eating healthy at work

One of the most important prerequisites for performance in the working world is a healthy and balanced diet. In order not to be hit by fatigue attacks, it is worth focusing on well-designed meals and enough liquids. In this article we will show you what to look out for.

Don't skip breakfast!

In order to work in a focused manner and achieve optimal performance, a balanced diet is essential. That starts at the beginning of the day. It is best to recharge your energy reserves that have been emptied overnight with whole grain products, muesli, yoghurt, cheese or vegetable spreads. It's also not bad if you don't get a bite in the morning as a morning grouch - then just take your breakfast to work and plan the time for it in advance.

A high-energy lunch!

In order to be able to work in a concentrated manner over a longer period of time, our brain needs sufficient energy. A balanced breakfast should be followed by a low-fat lunch. Dishes such as clear soups, whole grain products such as pasta or rice, but also potatoes, salad, fish and lean meat are ideal. To avoid ravenous appetite attacks, snacking between meals helps against the small hunger pangs and also prevents concentration from slacking off. Nuts, for example, are considered so-called "brain food" and support the performance of our brain. This makes it advisable to eat a handful of nuts every day.

Since water increases the ability to concentrate, don't forget to drink small sips from time to time while you work!

How does an employer support healthy eating in the workplace?

Those who pay attention to nutrition are more efficient. It is therefore advisable for employers to also deal with the topic of food and nutrition. A fruit crate or the optimization of the canteen offer (if available) can offer good opportunities and approaches for support. If there is no canteen, alternatives such as a financial subsidy for meals can be offered to promote healthy eating at the workplace.
