Interview during COVID 19

How do I behave during an interview in times of COVID 19?

Have you been positively noticed professionally or personally, have you been contacted directly by us, recommended by third parties or have you applied directly for an open position? Passed the first hurdle! You will be invited to an interview by one of our HR consultants - but how do you behave correctly?

teamFORCE Covid19

The classic - the personal conversation

In these uncertain times, this classic is used selectively or only for further discussions. Basically, your vis-a-vis interlocutor naturally gets a full picture of your professional competence and personality. Of course we think of teamFORCE Here all COVID 19-related protective measures are meticulously included. These are in particular:

  • Personal safety and health has absolute priority! If you feel ill or have a cough / runny nose / fever / sore throat, head or limbs, exhaustion, shortness of breath or loss of taste before the appointment - postpone the appointment. We understand!
  • To be on the safe side, take an MNS (mouth and nose protection) with you to the interview. If this makes you feel better during the conversation, feel free to wear this too. If there are more than two people in the room, we have an MNS obligation.
  • Unusual but safer - NO shaking hands when greeting or saying goodbye.
  • Wash your hands. It is not a problem at all if you visit the toilet facilities again before the interview to freshen up.
  • Compliance with the minimum distance of at least 1,5 m - the famous baby elephant.
  • We ensure regular ventilation and air conditioning
  • If you are not sure which COVID 19 measures are currently in force, contact us in advance, we will be happy to inform you.

The video or telephone interview

Of course, the COVID 19 protective measures do not need to be taken into account here. It is convenient, usable from anywhere and, above all, very time-efficient, as long journeys are eliminated. The disadvantage is that not all communication channels can be used and we cannot get a personal picture of you. In order to avoid problems of understanding and apprehension, we recommend the following:

  • Did you give us the correct phone number or Skype ™ ID? We will contact you in advance or send you access data for the Whereby ™ virtual meeting room
  • Check that Skype is already installed and up to date and that the camera and microphone are working. Skype ™ offers test options here, but it makes sense to test this with friends or partners. Nothing is more annoying or makes you unnecessarily nervous if the technology doesn't work. Do not save on equipment! A good camera and a good headset make sense.
  • Punctuality also counts online - it's better to dial in 2 - 3 minutes earlier.
  • Don't forget your posture and dress code! During video conferences you usually sit slightly bent forward in front of the monitor / laptop. Position the monitor at eye level with the camera so that your gaze is clear and straight ahead. Dress appropriately for the position. ATTENTION: fully tighten even in hot temperatures! You may well be asked to stand up in a video interview - you'll be glad you didn't leave your pants off! 😊
