Self-marketing as a means to success
With increasing competition on the job market, a good application is more than just a cover letter and a résumé. Self-marketing is an important part of a professional portfolio - but what does self-marketing actually mean?
You see yourself as a brand, but you remain authentic. An important step is to recognize your own strengths, to emphasize them and to adapt them to the needs of the job market.
Step 1: Analyze your own initial situation
- What is my professional career like so far?
- What did I like good and where? Which tasks did I enjoy the most?
- Which companies need my competencies and skills?
Step 2: personal and professional goals
- What is success for me?
- What should a successful professional activity look like in the future?
- Which aspects are particularly important (salary, flexibility, ...)?
- What do I want to achieve?
Step 3: The public appearance
This should be personal, but adapted to the target group (industry, company). The main focus here is on the 3 success criteria
- Expertise
- Achievement motivation
- Personality
to communicate. The online presence must not be neglected! (You can find more about this here 🙂) The more convincing your appearance, the higher your chances with the employer. However, self-marketing does not end after the job is accepted - even after integration into the company, it is important to make the value of yourself clear.
Services have to be noticed!
