Career: coached – planned!

Career: coached – planned!

If you subtract weekends, holidays, and vacations, it turns out that we spend about 230 days a year at work. We have to work most of those 230 days a year before retirement, but we have the power to influence the content.

We can live "under the circumstances," or we can take charge of a career, gain material freedom, have the privilege of setting goals. All of this is achievable. But it requires purposeful and right action for career development. What is the most effective way to do this?

What do you do when you learn to drive or really want to achieve something in sport?

What's the most effective approach to learning English: alone or with a teacher?

Yes, you can practice and do it yourself whenever you want, but it's the trainer who says "do 5 more times" when you think you can't do any more. And thus expand your skills to the limits of which you did not suspect.

A career consultant is usually an expert with extensive experience in the fields of recruitment, human resources management, headhunting. A career counselor who sees the ups and downs of hundreds of careers can see your potential and point out the best path to development.

The career advisor helps

  • Analyze strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures. The career counselor uses a variety of psychological tests such as a personality test, a potential analysis or a competence test;
  • Review your career goals;
  • writing a resume that accurately reflects your professional qualities, choosing the best channels for job search;
  • when assessing your market value, to prepare for an interview;
  • go into detail about your professional positioning;
  • to formulate a step-by-step development strategy.

When choosing a careers advisor, we encourage you to consider the following points

  1. expert experience. How many years the consultant works in a certain area, specialization, customer feedback.
  2. Education. A serious bonus for the client will be the career counselor's experience as a practicing coach and relevant training. In this case, you will get deeper access if necessary and work with your values, fears, prejudices that do not allow you to progress.
  3. Determine in advance what exactly you will get in the interview, the format, the expected results and other details.
  4. Familiarize yourself with a career counselor's social pages (for example, LinkedIn) what that person is sharing with their audience.

The career advisor will not do the work for you - you have to "lift the barbell" yourself. But with technique and the right direction, you will be able to avoid mistakes and achieve immeasurably more. For the same 230 days a year.

“Ordinary people only think about how they spend their time. An intelligent person tries to "exploit" them
