Digital onboarding

Digital onboarding

The training of new employees, whether digital or analog, is a process that has an immense influence on the working methods in a company. The integration of new employees and employee satisfaction begins with onboarding. To make your employees feel welcome, the following aspects must be observed:

3 steps to successful onboarding

1. Preboarding - Preparation is everything

  • organizational aspects such as information on working hours, IT access, etc. must be communicated before the first working day.
  • In order to promote social integration, future colleagues can introduce themselves through digital onboarding programs.

2. Orientation

  • Plan to start work an hour later than usual to reduce stress in the morning - first impressions count.
  • A brief company presentation, checklists and tips help with orientation.

3. Induction and integration

  • Create an induction plan in which the goals for the onboarding process are recorded.
  • Get regular feedback from all sides.

Digital familiarization processes

Digitization also has an impact on onboarding. E-learning and welcome videos are of great help and help to bring all employees up to date.

Digitized workflows help

A digital onboarding tool with appointment functions is recommended to keep everyone involved up to date with the progress of the onboarding process. This facilitates the coordination of appointments and everyone can see which tasks have already been completed and when which meetings are due.

Chat functions as well as playful components such as storytelling and gamification promote social contact among colleagues, especially at the beginning. An additional chat platform can be used to communicate on a personal level and a space is created for informal questions such as “when are we going to have lunch?”. Optionally, the use of onboarding apps can also be useful, but this should be adapted to the corporate culture, since onboarding should not be presented as a burden.

In summary, a joint, harmonious start facilitates future cooperation and promotes the working atmosphere.

If you have started something seriously, it is more than half done.
